Waipukurau
After a slight increase due to warm rain a few weeks ago the counts have dropped again, and with cooler nights the spore counts are expected to remain in this mid-low zone. We still have some potential for warm weather for another month or so but it is the night-time temperatures that are needed to keep the fungus growing and producing spores. Overnight lows need to be above 10-12 degrees for active spore production.
Occasional hot spots are still present so know your paddocks and which are the high risk areas. As always, if concerned please get some samples checked.

Spore counts have dipped from last week, despite the rain, likely due to cooler overnight temperatures. There are still hotspots though, so keep monitoring.
