Last month Roger McKinley saw his last ever patient, hung up his stethoscope and left our Hastings Clinic to begin a happy retirement after providing our community with a whopping 37 years of veterinary service!
When Roger began working in our original Hastings Clinic in 1983, he was one of just two veterinarians. (Vet Services Hastings now boasts a large team of 12 veterinarians). He has been fundamental to building such a strong team, and been a great leader and educator in the clinic.
Throughout his long career, Roger witnessed first-hand a massive improvement in animal welfare and veterinary medicines. Thanks to improved technology and diagnostics for early disease detection, and the dedication of our senior veterinarians like Roger who continued to study and learn, put in those very long hours and educated their team and clients there has been a change in mindset for where pets belong in a family. Regular wellness and higher standards of animal care has become a priority for all animal owners.
We are so thankful for the many years Roger spent with us at Vet Services and will miss his affable nature, obvious passion for veterinary medicine and commitment to his patients.
Congratulations Roger, we wish you all the best with this new life chapter!
